In order to take the Official GED Test you need to receive authorization from the State GED Office. This is obtained by establishing an online SAFE account and applying online. The online format requires an email account and a Driver's License or State ID but is much quicker than the paper application. Both options can be accessed from the State GED website which is: www.education.ohio.gov. Go to the green box on bottom left of the page and click on GED.
Effective January 1, 2012 only web applications will be accepted. After submission, the State GED Office will post your authorization to take the GED on the web site. To verify that your authorization has been posted, call our office (440-899-3075 x2028) and we will pull up the information. Once authorized, you can schedule to take the test.

The Content Area GED Tests The GED Tests usually require some preparation because they measure the skills and knowledge taught to a graduating high school senior. In fact, the passing standard/scores for the GED Tests are based on the estimated passing rate of graduating high school seniors. In spring 2001, the tests were administered to a sample group of graduating high school seniors and approximately 60 percent were estimated to be able to pass the tests on their first try. Therefore, to pass the GED Tests, you must perform as well as or better than 60 percent of those seniors.
